First Day of School

Summers are hard for working parents. Trying to juggle babysitters, camps and ensuring the kids don't spend an entire summer staring at a screen of some sort...whew...so it's nice when school finally starts again. These two looked so big on their first day!
It's hard to believe Matt is in 5th grade this year.  This will be his last year of elementary school. He wasn't super excited about starting school but he definitely changed gears when he found out he was going to be in Mr. Austin's class. Mr. Austin is our school's only male teacher and just a really nice guy. The first week Matt was shocked because he said he doesn't raise his voice. I told him that might change as the school year continues but nope...Mr. Austin doesn't yell! Matt thinks that's the best thing since year long baseball! Jackson and Lloyd are also in his class so 5th grade we are ready!
Marlie on the other hand couldn't wait for school to start. She loves learning and being with all of her friends. She was excited that she was put in Mrs. Rasmussen's class. Mrs. Rasmussen has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer so we got to meet her at Meet the Teacher night but not sure when she'll be back teaching. We praying for her lots but in the mean time the kids have Mrs. Matthews as their sub and she's as sweet as sugar! Matt had her as a substitute for a week last year and walked right into the class and gave her the biggest hug. So we are in good hands. Marlie also has lots of friends in her class including Khloe, Maylen, Emma and Leyla (Mr. Austin's daughter). They have a great class!
Good luck Matt and Marlie! We know you'll have another great year at FCE! Sending prayers up for our teachers and school staff!
