Our Last Soccer Saturday

I am sad to announce that we had our last Soccer Saturday a few weeks ago.  The Sharks started the day at 10am with a major shark attack!  Just when you think these boys can't get better, they do! I can't remember the score but again probably 20ish something to 3?
Matt and Caden sure did have a blast playing together and we were glad we could talk Coach Joel in letting Caden play (since he hates soccer!). They work so well together and challenge each other to get better too.  And I did manage to get some video!  Keep in mind that these videos are from just 1 quarter of a game! They are a bit shaking so bare with me!
Later at 1pm the Fairy Ponies took the field for the last time this season.  Marlie played ok but it wasn't a great day for her.  Regardless she looked really cute and made the last goal!  She ended the game in complete tears because Coach Dad told her that was her last game of the season...oh the drama!

As if the day wasn't full enough, we had baseball games at 4:00 and 5:30!  The Humble Hooks did outstanding and finished 2nd in the tournament!  Matt came home with a big trophy and I hope to get some pictures soon to post since I was camera less!

Matt and Marlie we are so proud of you!  Matt your effort is unreal and I LOVE how much you LOVE the game and cheer on your teammates.  You are a great leader.  Marlie it was so fun to watch you "break it up" this year.  We know you are naturally gifted and we are excited to watch you play again next year.

My SuperHeros!

Another successful Halloween has come and gone.  This has got to be one of my favorite holidays of the year.  The kids always end up looking so cute (even though they won't wear the costumes I would like them to) and the parents have just as much fun.

The day started off at school at the Kindergarten Character Parade.  It is so fun to see all the kids dressed up as characters from their favorite books!
I keep wondering what girl in the picture above is the real Wonder Woman? Ha!

We didn't make it to a pumpkin patch this year OR carve a pumpkin!  I feel horrible as those are two of my favorite things to do.  I'm not sure how Halloween got here so fast.  But we did manage to put some silly faces on our pumpkins!
So yes, Marlie decided to be Wonder Woman this year.  I tried so hard to convince her to be a princess but she insisted on a superhero!!  Well, Matt decided to be Captain America so they both ended up looking very cute together.  Reminded me of the batman/bat woman costumes from a couple of years ago.
We had fun hanging out at the Patton's house before heading out into the neighborhood. I attempted a picture of all the kids together but no luck. They were way too excited to get the show on the road.
Marlie was giving lots of hugs along the way to Ms. Debbie, Ms. Carol and all her friends!
Our entire neighborhood was decorated for the big event! It's almost as crazy as Christmas decorations and the kids loved it!
Marlie and Cali worked so hard to keep up with boys.  They were exhausted by the end of the night!
And then we caught up with Austin and Braeden!! Braeden is in Kinder also and Marlie sees him after school at the YMCA.  She talks about Braeden A LOT and when I reminder her that he lived down the street, she asked Daddy to take her to ride her bike and see his house!!  So I told Braeden's Mom and Dad that their son has a stalker and they seemed perfectly fine with that.  Both actually said separately that it sounded like the perfect arranged marriage so we'll see! Ha!!
Hardly any of my pictures from the night turned out good as the kids were running everywhere!  But I caught this flash of Capt America that I thought was super cute!!
And I can't forget to give a shout out to our Halloween helper that stays at the house to hand out candy.  Our one and only....Nene! Hope you had a great Halloween!

Matt Finally Lost a Tooth!

I forgot to share some really BIG news with you all...Matt finally lost a tooth!! It's big news because I think he is the last of all his friends to lose a tooth.  Even some of Marlie's friends are toothless!  So when he jiggled it out last week he was pumped!
Luckily the tooth fairy left a sweet note that said he could keep the tooth since it was his first.  The tooth went to school and to Nene's house.  The permanent tooth is making it's way into place!!

Marlie is Back...and I Have Proof!

So Marlie played really well at her soccer game last week and I captured it on video just in case we never see this again! She scored 5 goals and had 2 others that almost made it in.  There was no crazy dancing like in the first game but she was still very excited. It was fun to watch for sure...
Matt's team actually lost which is a big change from our 20 to 0 wins!  We lose to these kids every year.  They play soccer year round and like our kids have been playing together for awhile.  I think we might have lost by 3 goals and Matt had 2 that hit the goal post.  His friend Cole was wide open for another 2 goals and he got ran down at the last minute.  It was a good game and the boys tried hard and never gave up.  I tried to video the game but the field is so much bigger and the boys game is so fast.  I will try again this week but don't hold your breath!

A Few Firsts

Last weekend Marlie had her first sleepover!  She was so excited to spend the night at her friend Emilie's house.  She asked me every morning if it was "the nigh"t for about a week.  She wasn't nervous at all and honestly I wasn't either.  At anyone else's house I might have sent a list of instructions, but Emilie's Mom, Melissa was Matt's PreK-4 teacher.  If she can handle a room full of 4 & 5 year olds every day, I figure she can probably handle Marlie for a night!

Melissa said the girls almost fell asleep at 9:00 and then started chatting and were giggling and delirious until midnight! They were up early Sunday and had fun playing on the "four wheeler".  Now Marlie wants one for Christmas and is trying to talk Matt into asking for it too!! Thanks Melissa for having Marlie over!
And although Mom did not agree to it, Matt is playing select baseball this year and the boys had their first tournament! The team is the Humble Hooks and Matt is playing first base.  I think it's a lot of baseball but he loves every minute of it.  It's a great group of kids and parents too and I will enjoy watching every minute of it.  Dad has done a great job taking Matt to all his practices, helping coach and keeping up with the details of it all.

The boys won 1 game at their first tournament which is pretty good.  Some of those teams have been playing all fall and we're just playing in a few tournaments this season.  I guess next spring we will play more often.  It's amazing how hard these 7 year olds play and how good they are.

And yes we are still playing soccer.  We got rained out one weekend and then Matt had a buy week.  This weekend M&M played at the same time so we all, including Nene, were switching fields during the hour.  Matt's team was on fire, as usual.  Both Matt and Caden scored on corners! I missed both as I was at Marlie's game but would have paid lots of money to see that.  7 year olds scoring from a corner kick?  Amazing.
My little Marlie went back into soccer hibernation.  She's still playing great defense but won't get out of the goal??? I'm not sure what happened because she was on fire for 2 games.  She went from shoving people out of her way to not attacking the ball??? We hope to see her back in action.  We know now that she CAN do it if she WANTs to and she seems to love going out to practice and games.  We'll have to take deep breaths and hope she comes back!! We'll keep you posted...in the mean time I will have my video camera in hand just in case!

Matt's 7th Birthday!

Matt just loves his birthday.  He counts down the days and is already talking about things we can do for next year!  But I told him this year that we weren't going to have anymore big parties.  We decided he could take a few friends to the Astros game so that's what we did last Saturday.  It seems like 8/31 was so long ago but Matt was happy to have another day to celebrate...Matt!

We had lunch and cupcakes at the house before heading down for the game.  Matt was very excited that Caden, Cole, Micah and Evan could join us. And Marlie loved being with all the boys!
The boys enjoyed the first few innings.  They cheered loudly for Scott Moore and he looked back and waved at the boys.  He later hit a home run and they went crazy.  They cheered random things like "Pirates eat pizza" and "Pirates are nerds".  A quick reminder that they are only 7! I'm not sure at times if they were cheering or heckling but they were having fun.

At some point the fun of the game wore off so I quickly got out the fun dip...what kid doesn't love fun dip and it keeps them focused for awhile.  But then it was off to the play area which they loved WAY more than watching the game!
They got to race this large moving figure from 3rd base to home and then they got to swing at shooting water.

Back to the game and a few more shots of sugar, then it was time for the kids to run the bases.  The boys ran so fast that I couldn't get a good shot.
Overall it was a great day.  Next year I might just take the boys to the playground and that will likely work for them!  Happy Birthday Matt!  We love you!
